During Tuesday night's dinner prior to the Fashion Show, New Mexico's own Wilma Fulgham was inducted into the Miss Rodeo America Hall of Fame. Previous inductees include Bill Hervey, Arlene Kensinger, Kay Dennis, Bob Tallman and Wendell Hamilton.
Mrs. Fulgham has been a pillar of love, support, generosity and leadership for the Miss Rodeo America Pageant for many, many years. In fact no one really knows exactly how long that is except that it is well over 20 years.
She was raised in the enchanting Southwest as a cowgirl first, then a rodeo queen, then wife and mother. She quickly became a civic leader in her community and has spent most of her adult life mentoring young people while producing rodeos and rodeo queen pageants. Mrs. Fulgham was the New Mexico State Fair Rodeo Queen, is an active member of many boards including her local Pioneer Days Rodeo, was instrumental in founding the High Plains Jr. Rodeo Association and serves as a reporter to the rodeo world of northeastern New Mexico and the Texas panhandle.
Today she is considered a matriarch of rodeo in her hometown and across her home state. For the Miss Rodeo America Pageant Mrs. Fulgham launched the very successful Rodeo Royalty Seminar which is held during the Miss Rodeo America Pageant, is the organizer and sponsor of the Wednesday morning Fellowship of Christian Cowboys contestant breakfast, serves as co-chair of the Media Relations committee, volunteers to work the Miss Rodeo America booth at Cowboy Christmas and serves as a media relations liaison, chaperon and driver for the newly selected Miss Rodeo America. For over 20 years Mrs. Fulgham has served as the number one supporter of and National Director for Miss Rodeo New Mexico.
To share in this momentous achievement Mrs. Fulgham's sons Larry and Jerry Fulgham were in attendance.

PS - Miss Wilma also makes a mean peanut brittle which those of us in the media office really enjoy and appreciate!
